INSTRUCTIONS

Prints:

  • Open the clear inkless fingerprinting solution enclosed in the foil pouch
  • Place foil pouch and I.D. Card on a flat surface.
  • Lightly & quickly touch your (child’s) finger on the paper section of the foil pouch that contains the solution.
  • Lightly & quickly touch the coated finger in the appropriate box on the I.D. Card.

Do not roll finger
(NOTE: Fingerprints are initially light and will continue to grow darker.)

  • Although no black residue is left on the finger, wash your (child’s) hands or wipe with damp cloth.
  • Fingers must be printed in sequential order.
  • When completed, fingerprints should be clear and unsmudged.  If uncertain, place a second print next to the first.

DNA:

Use the two sterile swabs to obtain DNA from the inside of the child’s cheek.  Once the swabs are collected with the child’s saliva (rubbing the swab inside the cheek 5-10 times), it should be placed back into the swab package (do not touch the swab with fingers).  After air drying for 2 hours, the DNA sample may be place in a new, sealed plastic bag.

The FBI recommends waiting at least one hour after a meal, before collecting the DNA sample.  The mouth should be clean (with food on the swab, mold will act more quickly).  The DNA sample may be replaced every 3 years.
