AFCA/FBI National Child ID Program State Projects
Below is a summary of the National Child ID Program's state projects either completed or in progress.
Alabama
- 2005-2006: The Alabama Sheriff’s Association, along with former Alabama Coach Gene Stallings and Auburn Coach Tommy Tuberville, distributed over 420,000 kits to children throughout the state.
Colorado
- 2008: Marcus Thomas, of the Denver Broncos, provided Child ID Kits for all kindergarten students in the state of Colorado.
Florida
- 2006-2007: The Florida Sheriff’s Association and the Florida Association of District School Superintendent’s teamed up to provide 500,000 Child ID Kits to Florida children.
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor Charlie Crist and Coach Bobby Bowden, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all incoming kindergarten students in the state of Florida.
Indiana
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor Mitch Daniels and Coach Jim Caldwell, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 1st grade students in the state of Indiana.
Kansas
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor (Secretary) Kathleen Sebelius and Coach Bill Snyder, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 6th grade students in the state of Kansas.
Michigan
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor Jennifer Granholm, Coach Rich Rodriguez and Coach Lloyd Carr, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 1st grade students in the state of Michigan.
Nebraska
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor (Secretary) Kathleen Sebelius and Coach Bill Snyder, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 6st grade students in the state of Kansas.
Ohio
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor Ted Strickland and Coach Jim Tressel, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 1st grade students in the state of Ohio.
Oklahoma
- 2009: Under the leadership of Governor Brad Henry and Coach Bob Stoops, the Governor’s office and Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is providing Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 6th grade students in the state of Oklahoma.
South Carolina
- 2004-2005: Coach Steve Spurrier led efforts to raise funds through the credit unions to provide Child ID Kits for every kindergarten through 6th grade student in the state of South Carolina.
- 2009: Under the leadership of State Representative Tim Scott, a partnership with Wal-Mart has been formed to provide Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 1st grade students in the state of South Carolina.
Texas
- 2000: Under the leadership of Governor (President) George Bush, distributed nearly four million Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 12th grade students in the state of Texas.
- 2006-2007: Under the leadership of Governor Rick Perry, working with Mack Brown and R.C. Slocum, provided 2.2 million Child ID Kits to all kindergarten through 6th grade students in the state of Texas.
- 2008-Current: Governor Perry, along with Wal-Mart, the Texas Sheriff’s Association and the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) are providing Child ID Kits to all incoming kindergarten students each year.
Utah
- 2006: The Sheriff’s of Utah teamed up with their credit unions and provided 122,000 kits to Utah children.
- 2008: Under the leadership of Governor (Ambassador) Jon Huntsman and Coach Bronco Mendenhall and with the help of the Utah Sheriff’s Association, 500,000 Child ID Kits were distributed to all kindergarten through 12th grade students in the state of Utah.
Wyoming
- 2008: Under the leadership of state Superintendent Dr. Jim McBride and Coach Joe Glenn, the Wyoming Department of Education provided every kindergarten through 12th grade student in the state of Wyoming a Child ID Kit.
- 2009: The Wyoming Department of Education will continue their support of child safety and provide all incoming kindergarten students with Child ID Kits.
